Corona Virus

As a result of the recent outbreak of Coronavirus which began in Wuhan, China airlines have issued waiver policies for those who are travelling to, from and through China and Hong Kong. Airlines including Virgin Atlantic, Qatar Airways and Emirates are offering rebooking and refund options for those who are affected. Please note that details are correct at time of writing – 28th January 2020. Please contact ACE Travel for up to date information.


Virgin Atlantic

Due to the Coronavirus in China, Virgin Atlantic are offering customers travelling to, from or through China and Hong Kong between 22 January and 29th February options to rebook to a later date or re-route via another gateway airport if travelling onward. This is applicable to customers with tickets issued before/on 27th January 2020.


Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways are offering a waiver policy for those with confirmed tickets issued on or before 23rd January 2020 for travel to/from China and Hong Kong for travel on 23rd January 2020-28th February 2020. The airports included are:


Hong Kong (HKG)

Beijing (PEK)

Chengdu (CTU)

Chongqing (CKG)

Guangzhou (CAN)

Hangzhou (HGH)

Shanghai (PVG)


Passengers with affected flights are able to rebook with alternative dates within 90 days from the original date of travel or travel from/to a different origin/destination. Refund options are also available for unutilized tickets.



Emirates are permitting waivers for tickets which have been ticketed on/before 24th January 2020 to /from Wuhun (WUH), Shanghai (SHA), Beijing (BJS) and Guangzhou (CAN). Passengers on affected flights can rebook before or within 7 days from the original flight date if travelling between 24th January 2020 and 29th February 2020 or reroute their flights before or within 7 days to any other destination within China operated by Emirates.


Refunds are available to customers travelling to/from Wuhun (WUH) between 23rd January 2020 and 23rd February 2020 and customers travelling to/from Shanghai (SHA), Beijing (BJS) and Guangzhou (CAN) between 24th January 2020 and 6th February 2020.


American Airlines

For customers travelling to Wuhun (WUH), Tianjin (TSN), Shanghai (SHA) and Chengdu (CTU) between 23rd January and 31st March 2020, American Airlines are permitting a refund for tickets issued on/before 23rd January 2020. In addition, for those travelling to/from PEK and PVG between 24th January and 31st January are permitted to reissue their ticket with new travel dates between 24th January-29th February 2020.


Air China

For passengers with tickets issued on/before 24th January 2020 for travel or transit to China, Air China are offering refund and rebooking options. Affected passengers can request a full refund or change the date of travel.


Hong King Airlines

Due to the Coronavirus, all tickets issued on/before 24th January for travel on Hong Kong Airlines (HX) involving travel to mainland China between 24th January 2020 and 29th February are offering refund and rebooking options to its passengers.
