USA Entry Requirements

USA Entry Requirements

During the first wave of COVID-19, on March 18th 2020, former President Donald Trump announced that the US would close its borders to non-essential travellers. After a 20-month US travel ban, on the 8th of November it was finally confirmed that the restrictions had been lifted and international travel to the United States was officially reopened for double-jabbed visitors. Due to the success of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, businesses will now be able to attend meetings and events overseas in the US and proceed with their flight bookings.

How to prepare for your business trip to the United States post-COVID

Although travel to the US is back, travellers are not out of the woods just yet as there are still some requirements to be aware of before you can board a flight. It is vital to ensure each of the following steps are addressed and completed before you can be allowed to enter the US. Here is what you need to consider when planning your next US business trip.

Are you fully vaccinated?

To enter the US, individuals must be fully vaccinated with one of the following:

  • AstraZeneca
  • BIBP/Sinopharm
  • Covishield
  • Janssen
  • Moderna
  • Pfizer-BioNTech
  • Sinovac

Do you have a negative COVID-19 test result?

In addition to being double jabbed, travellers will also be required to show a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19. The negative viral test must be no more than 3 days before boarding a flight to the US. Although children under 18 are exempt from the vaccination requirement, they must still adhere to the testing. For more information, here is a useful guide on COVID-19 testing for travel. It is important to note that both PCR and lateral flow tests are accepted but they need to be conducted under live supervision either in-person or via video. Our supplier Qured is approved to provide these via video and the Advantage cost is £31.50 using code ‘Advantage10’, find out more here.
